This documentation is intended to answer the most frequent "I wonder if...?" or "Do you...?" if it's less than clear when using the app.
There are many great recipe apps out there. Personally, I wanted an app that was more minimalistic and efficient in the two keys areas of recipe creation and being able to reference a recipe while cooking.
I don't think creating a recipe can be much easier than how I've envisioned Some Fine Food. You write a recipe as though it's a note, and the app will figure out what's what and highlight everything automatically. There's no need to go to a separate page. It all happens in the same view, pretty much instantly.
Writing a new recipe or making changes to an existing one uses the full screen of a laptop for when I don't have the patience to tap sentences on a phone. On the other hand, if a phone suits more, it is incredibly straightforward to write recipes on a small screen.
Perhaps, with some slight priority, I've tried to make browsing contents and referencing recipes on a phone ultra efficient. I wanted to make as much of the app accessible with just one thumb if holding the phone in one hand and trying to skim through recipes or quickly make a conversion or scale change.
Really, I made the app to solve problems I have a in the kitchen when referencing my phone (if I can pin and enlarge steps I can find it in seconds if I'm scrolling quickly back and forth) to situations I haven't found myself in but imagine others may (Does you kitchen have a TV handy? Some Fine Food probably works on it)
For now, just English. The reason being that so much of how the app functions is based on understanding nuances of the language to determine if a word might be indicative of something relevant to highlighting or converting.
The good news, is that I believe I have both American and UK English covered. As much as possible, I've tried to pick up on spelling differences that occur and provide conversions for imperial and US versions.
You can use SFF in any language. Steps will be detected. But you will not have any of the highlighting of conversions and parts of it may behave erratically.
Some Fine Food is in early days. The waitlist is a preventitive measure to ensure I can keep control of numbers and expand as I'm ready. As I write this, there's very little waiting time, but I will try and include an estimate if this changes.
This is currently in beta but ultimately, yes, I will charge for using Some Fine Food. As things are now, I'm hoping to be able to offer all beta users who are actively using the app continued free usage when pricing comes in for new users.
Just me. I made everything work in front of and behind the scenes (including promos on social media) and try to make everything look and work beautifully (form and function!). So if it ever feels like I'm a little slower than a company with 500 staff or you're wondering why I can't charge $1 a month, hopefully this makes the situation a little easier to appreciate :)
